Grace MacLean, amputée d’une jambe suite à un accident de cheval, va apprendre à revivre en allant habiter avec sa mère Annie (Kristin Scott Thomas) chez le dresseur de chevaux du Montana Tom Booker (Redford lui-même).
Scarlett Johansson, née en 1984, explose littéralement dans ce film où elle parvient par instants avec grâce et maturité à voler la vedette aux acteurs principaux adultes.
On a pu la voir chez Sofia Coppola (Lost in translation), Brian de Palma (Le dahlia noir - the black dahlia), Woody Allen (Match point, Scoop et Vicky Cristina Barcelona) et Luc Besson (Lucy).
